The Decade Tag

Okay, friends, I apologize for my lateness to the game, but this one has been on my list, and, with everything going on lately, it’s been a while since I’ve participated in a tag!

Thank you!!!

First things first, I want to send a big thank you to my friend, Matt, over at, not only for nominating me to participate, but also for creating this tag!

The Decade Tag is a wonderful way to hear from and learn more about my friends in this community, and I can’t wait to share with you, too. So, I recognize that it’s February, but I figure that objective is timeless πŸ˜‰.

If you don’t know Matthew, he writes about faith through difficult times, gratitude for wonderful moments, his experiences with many different cultures, and living with Celiac’s disease among other things. A recent post of his, entitled “Blessed by Small Moments“, is the perfect example of this. I promise you his example through the fire of life will inspire you. May God continue to bless you in your ministry, health, and other blessings you seek, big brother.

How it Works:

  1. Please share a link to the creator of the tag-
  2. Share some highlights for you over the past decade and, if you want, a few low points
  3. Tag whoever you wish to.
  4. Ask them some questions.
  5. Use any picture appropriate for such a tag.

My Highlights:

Over the last decade:

  1. I graduated from High School in 2010! β€” which makes me feel young πŸ˜‚. I attended a charter school that partnered with a local university and obtained my Associates (general education) college degree as well.
  2. I ran 11 trail miles. The farthest distance I’ve made it thus far.
  3. I wrote several songs in college.
  4. I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. It was a lot of hard work, which is probably the best thing I got out of it, as I didn’t continue on to grad school like I originally planned.
  5. I met and married the kindest, smartest, most hard-working person that I know.
  6. We had two beautiful children.
  7. I held a wonderful job that I enjoyed for 5 years, and then quit to be a stay-at-home mom β€” both highlights for me.
  8. My husband received a scholarship opportunity to obtain his PhD, which he successfully completed just last year!
  9. We bought our first house!
  10. I started a blog and a podcast 😊

Some Low Points:

  • I made some incredible friends, but I also lost some. I wish I could give younger me some advice sometimes, but I try instead to put that energy into bettering the future.
  • My mother-in-law passed away suddenly in a car accident on Aug. 7, 2015. It was especially difficult for my sweetheart.
  • A few health things: plantar fasciitis, my postpartum depression and anxiety with my son, and TMJ/TMD.

Matt’s Questions for Me:

  1. What was your favorite song or songs from this past decade? I don’t keep up to date with music at all! Most of what I listen to is from my high school days. Everything new I love is from the Christian Rock station (Lauren Daigle, Zach Williams…) or Taylor Swift πŸ˜….
  2. What was your favorite movie or movies from this past decade? The new Star Wars trilogy comes to mind. My husband also introduced me to the old Star Wars movies in this decade β€” I never watched them until I met Joe.
  3. What was your favorite book from this past decade? Safe House: How Emotional Safety Is the Key to Raising Kids Who Live, Love, and Lead Well, by Joshua Straub

ZERO pressure, but I’d love to tag:

Jacquie of Joy Cottage

Temi of Christian Mommas

Deborah Marie of Great is God’s Faithfulness

Jen of Heavens to Betty

Pallavi of Curating Thoughts

Pene’ of Pene’ Pasta for the Soul

Kathy of KNJ Snippets & Tales

Hepzibah of Raising Zion

Deandra of Imago Dei

Brenda of Becoming His Tapestry

C.D. Anders of The Unneccessary Blog

Dawn of Drawing Closer to Christ

Beverley of Becoming the Oil and the Wine

Because I always learn a lot from each of you ❀

My Questions for My Nominees:

  1. What is the biggest lesson you learned over the past decade?
  2. Who is one of your heroes from the past decade and why?
  3. What is one thing you hope to accomplish over the next decade?

And, I just wanted to say, I love you, dear reader. There are different kinds of love, but I don’t use that word lightly. Thank you for always being there to inspire, uplift, and relate with me. I hope you each have a very Happy Valentine’s next week.

Here’s to a wonderful decade to come!

❀ Jenny

  1. Good answers, highlights (class of 2010, woot woot! lol), and sharing of low points (which are hard to share but just as much a part of our life stories as the high points are.)

Here’s to the Roarin’ 20s being another great decade!
