Each day, laptop and children permitting, I’ll share a prompt that’s been on my mind, and a few of my thoughts.
You are welcome to share your own perspective in the comments, or just journal it out!
My favorite moment of today was… How can I make more of those moments?
When everything falls apart, this exercise always helps me feel better. When things are good, it helps me prioritize my progress.
Gratitude helps me battle the feelings that don’t serve me (e.g. comparison, anger, insecurity, anxiety).
I don’t shove them under the rug. I’m a big believer in the both/and philosophy. You can feel grateful and still struggle. You can feel love and still be exhausted. You can feel camaraderie and still be shy.
But, that’s just it. When my gratitude practice is sincere, I see both the hard and the good at play in my life. Sometimes, they overlap!
I also see patterns.
When I read with my kids, I feel so much joy, and I love being a mom. When I write in my journal, I’m more deliberate and feel more fulfilled. When I try again after I make a mistake, I turn a bad day around.
I’m always learning.
The trick is, I’m not just grateful for things; I’m grateful for moments. Then, I make more of them.
And I practice every day. When I don’t have time to write it, I pray it. It gets easier, and it helps me shift my focus.
Here’s to our favorite moments of today, and tomorrow.
