100 Days of Journal Prompts: Day 45

Each day, laptop and children permitting, I’ll share a prompt that’s been on my mind, and a few of my thoughts.

You are welcome to share your own perspective in the comments, or just journal it out!

What are some of my favorite memories? Why?

It’s exciting to think about what bucket list items have yet to take place, but I also love to remember some of the special moments and memories I’ve already enjoyed.

Favorite vacations, family card games, laughing till it hurts with my roommates…

Life doesn’t always go according to plan, but what moments have made it all worth it for you?

  1. I’m sorry that so many of my comments have been negative lately. But my mind is just in a dark place right now… and I feel like I’m having a hard time with this concept of happy memories these days, because pretty much all the happy memories I have are reminders of a life that is gone and will never come back. COVID and people’s loud-mouthed political opinions took away everything I had left. And that makes it really hard to keep doing my blog. I haven’t written this week’s post yet, I have an outline, but because of some things I’ve read related to certain people’s opinions on this week’s events, I’m now considering cutting off all contact with most of the remaining people in my life who were part of the happy memory I’m writing about, as well as the organization that brought us together back in the 90s. I am considering retconning my entire blog to avoid mentioning that organization by name. I don’t know how to handle this…

    1. You can still record those memories Greg. Those people and organisations were part of your life at one point so you should record it as it happened. Doesn’t mean you have to associate with them now if you don’t want to. That’s just my thoughts. Hope things get better for you.

    2. I’m sorry, friend. I like Kathy’s thoughts. But I know what it’s like to lose relationships over disagreements – it’s not fun. I know this past year has been a trial for you. Sometimes that makes it hard to have a positive attitude. You do you. But I really believe even a small amount of hope can make a big difference πŸ˜‰ Praying for you!

  2. I feel my whole life is a journey of ups and downs with too many significant memories to pinpoint. I’m just grateful to be where I am now after many low points growing up and as an adult. I have my husband, children, family and a few close friends. That’s all I need. Everything else is a bonus.

  3. Some of my favorite memories are things I did for the first time – going to Disney World, snow skiing, going to the ocean, Yellowstone. Some others are of Joe. He made me laugh a lot and I loved spending time with him. He’s gone now and memories are all I have left.
