100 Days of Journal Prompts: Day 76

Each day, laptop and children permitting, Iโ€™ll share a prompt thatโ€™s been on my mind, and a few of my thoughts.

You are welcome to share your own perspective in the comments, or just journal it out!

What is one act of service I’ve received or participated in recently?

Sometimes I think of Jesus and the lost sheep. I love the thought that, even with 99 other sheep to care for, He actively seeks out the one.

In fact, the “lost” parables are some of my favorite scripture in general.

Lately, though, I’ve lamented over being one of the ninety-and-nine.

I know it isn’t very Christian of me.

I want the lost sheep to be found! I want to help and serve and be part of the work.

But – I don’t know about you – sometimes being the one that no one needs to worry about gets lonely, too.

This weekend, I took a few things to God with some tearful prayers. Nothing major, but it felt major to me.

And, wouldn’t you believe it? Two sweet women reached out to me the following day.

One brought cookies and freezer meals (literally my love language).

Another called to check in and offered to watch my kids anytime.

All this to say… Maybe no one else knows what you’re going through, but God knows. Sometimes we’re the giver, sometimes the receiver, sometimes lost, sometimes not… and sometimes all of the above.

And maybe God doesn’t send cookies your way every time you pray for a miracle. But I firmly believe He loves ALL of His sheep.

I’m so grateful for the hands the lift in this world, and I hope to be one of them.

What service have you experienced recently?
