#46: How Do You Handle Unsolicited Advice?

Today’s prompt is:

Feel free to listen in and share your own thoughts πŸ‘‡πŸ½.

We’ve all been there.

Someone telling you how to parent (my LEAST. favorite thing).

Or how to eat.

Or how to date (you wouldn’t believe how often this comes up if you’re single and over 30 where we live).

Over the years, I’ve gotten much more secure in ignoring the things that don’t apply to me, but it does still get under my skin once in awhile. Or I simply don’t know how to politely avoid the conversation.

We give one small tip in today’s episode, but we’d love to know –

What do you do about unsolicited advice?

Thanks for being a part of our conversation!

      1. It’s true. But I like the idea of not needlessly escalating the situation. To be fair, I don’t usually say what I’m thinking out loud 🀣. I’d just like to work on having kinder thoughts. Sometimes people deserve the benefit of the doubt for just trying to help.

    1. I think that’s me, too. And also what kind of head space I’m in. Usually if I’m in a good place it’s easy for me to say thanks and let it go or be kind about sharing why it might not work for me.
