100 Days of Journal Prompts: Day 79

Each day, laptop and children permitting, I’ll share a prompt that’s been on my mind, and a few of my thoughts.

You are welcome to share your own perspective in the comments, or just journal it out!

What is my best advice for a happy marriage?

Joe and I recently downloaded an amaaaazing new app called Intimately Us.

It has conversation starters, (clean) intimacy games, quizzes, and articles, date night ideas, and even small, daily challenges for growing closer together (rather than waiting for the “someday vacation” in the Bahamas).

And it’s been surprisingly tons of fun!

Maybe it’s the app. Maybe it’s our children sleeping through the night again.

…But we feel like a real-life married couple; not just surviving co-parents.

And I love it 😊.

Another thing Joe regularly does for me is listen.

Like – really listen.

Sometimes we talk about pretty hard stuff.

A lot has come up for me lately with current events, and we don’t always agree.

But he’s patient. And he listens to understand, rather than listening for what to say next.

It’s kind of a miracle-worker.

But what do you think? What are your best relationship tips?

❤ Jenny

  1. I have not, nor have I ever been married, but I believe one of the most important keys in a successful relationship is open and honest communication. I know that is common advice and possibly even cliché, but still true.

    1. Absolutely! It’s cliche for a reason. I think part of why it’s so important is not just falling in love, but staying in love and staying close. I really felt that when we first started having young kids. You’re just getting through the days rather than keeping tabs with what’s on each other’s hearts. Great tip 😊.
